This man had devoted almost all of his life to Hogwarts and its students, and if he wanted to enjoy his last few months with his husband, he had every right to it. We want to spend the time we have left together away from Hogwarts, in our house in Yorkshire.”Įven though Minerva heard this news with a heavy heart, she knew that there was nothing she could-or would-do to change Filius’s mind. ![]() The Healers have informed me I might have a year, or even less… and Horace and I have been talking. The sadness in Filius’ eyes gave the truth away even before he could answer, but when he finally did, he said, “I am afraid so. “You are sicker than we all thought you are, aren’t you? Is that why you are here?”, she therefore asked compassionately. In fact, there was a somber expression on the little man’s face. I guess you have come for a late cup of tea?” Minerva remembered all the great late-night conversations she and Filius had enjoyed over the years, in a time before Minerva had become Headmistress of Hogwarts.įilius, however, did not return Minerva’s smile. She quickly finished writing the last line of her letter to the Minister, put her quill aside and called, “Come in!” She wondered who wanted to see her at such a late hour, as it was close to midnight, and she was not expecting anyone.Ī smile spread across her face, however, when she saw who her visitor was. Minerva McGonagall was working at the desk in her office when somebody knocked at the door. ![]()
